Epilepsy Knocked Out!

"O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.  I sought the Lord,   and He heard me, and delivered me, and delivered me from all my fears" - Psalm 34: 3-4)

At the recently concluded Regional Chapter of the International Gospel Ministers Conference of the Hour (IGMC) for Anglophone West African countries in Kumasi, Ghana (July 2-4, 2008), George Wilson, a Ghanaian,  was one of the Watchman brothers who had come down from Accra to work hard for the success of  the programme. Wilson loves the Lord and does not hide it.

This love is continually buoyed and sustained by the profound gratitude he bears deep down in his heart to God for the great miracle He did in his life when Wilson was residing in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The Watchman General Overseer, Pastor A.C. Ohanebo, had undertaken a pastoral visit to the Watchman Church in Tel-Aviv and had in the course of his stay there prayed for Wilson.

George Wilson: Totoally Healed

After this prayer by the man of God, the epilepsy that had tormented his life since he was in the primary school was defeated and knocked out. That was in 1998, and since then, he has not experienced it again. Today, he resides with his family in Accra, and remains grateful to God who had delivered him, and his wife who stood by him throughout those extremely trying years.

It is with that same immense gratitude that he shares this testimony today to tell everyone that has ears to hear that the Almighty God is a specialist in very complicated matters.

I want to use this opportunity to thank God and show my appreciation for how He used His servant, the General Superintendent of the Watchman, Pastor A.C. Ohanebo, to deliver me from the torment of epilepsy when he visited us in Israel.

This sickness started when I was in Form One (Elementary School) through Middle School and even till I left Secondary School. After my Secondary School education in 1978, I left my country (Ghana) for Nigeria where I stayed for complete ten years.

Throughout those years, I continued to experience the sickness. I would recall some places in Nigeria where I had the epileptic seizures and would have died but the eyes of the God of Watchman were on me, and my life was spared.

It, for instance, happened to me when I was in places like Ogbomoso in Oyo State, Ilorin, Benin, Jos and even in Okomu forest where I worked as a machine operator for a company that dealt in timber.

I, however, had the worst, near-fatal experience while in a bus one day. We were in the middle of a bridge in Bacita heading to the sugar plantation in Jebba when it happened. The door of the vehicle had flung open, and if I had fallen off, I would have landed in the river and probably be drowned, but a man there braved it and held me very strongly until I recovered myself again.

When I left Nigeria and returned to Ghana, I traveled   to Israel where I lived for another ten years. While there, the sickness continued until God showed me mercy by bringing His servant, the General Superintendent, to Israel on a pastoral visit. In the course of prayers during one of the programmes, he specifically passed a decree on the sickness and declared that after six months, I would not have the attacks of epilepsy again.

I believed the Lord and His servants. And to prove the faithfulness of God, since then I have not experienced the sickness and its attendant embarrassments again. Also fear, anxiety and worries have left me and in their place an abiding peace and inner joy. Brethren, when Jesus sets you free, you are free indeed.

I thank God for my wife who throughout the trying period, stood by me.

We bore the 'cross' together, as it were, and I want to also thank the Lord for His servant, our pastor in Israel then, Pastor Hillary Abara, and all the brethren who had helped me in prayers.

Glory be to the Most High God!"
