Lost, Found And Blessed

Testimony of Salvation By Peace Okezie

GOD in His infinite mercies and compassion used various ways and means to draw Peace Okezie to Himself and enable her to renounce her old life and receive a new one from the Lord to live for and serve Him.

Before then, all the entreaties to win her to Christ had been rebuffed until a strong prayer was made by the pastor in the course of his ministration for a hammer to fall on the hearts of all the people present in church that day whose hearts had been locked against the gospel of salvation.

And when the ‘hammer fell’ as was requested, her heart was broken, and what emerged was an entirely recreated Peace, who later joyfully testified: “The experience brought a complete change in my life, to the extent that everybody who knew me started testifying to it.”

Now what really happened? Peace Okezie from Aguda, Surulere District in Lagos Archdiocese of the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement here recounts the various demonstrations of the love of God towards her and how she eventually reciprocated them.

“I was born in a Christian family. All the members of my family were believers except me. Before our father died, he wrote to all of us saying that anybody who would want to see him again should endeavour to make heaven.

Because I loved him, I said I would want to see him again. So, I decided to do what was required to make heaven. I kept going to church but yet remained unsaved. I was still deep in the world. When I decided to come to Lagos, I deliberately chose to go to one of our sisters who then was still an unbeliever so that I could live the way I wanted.

“However, shortly after my arrival, my sister and her husband repented and joined the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement. They always asked me to go to fellowship with them. Not wanting to offend them, I would dress up as if I was going to fellowship only to go to be with my friends.

And when I guessed that the fellowship was about to close, I would come around the fellowship centre and then go home with them. I would pretend as if I was at the fellowship by saying something like: ‘Today’s message was wonderful indeed’.

“I was very much touched the day I dreamt about rapture. All my family members were raptured except me. My relations and friends mocked me for missing the rapture. The horror of the dream made me to decide to give my life to Christ. But the influence of friends did not allow me to stand. I continued living my usual sinful life.

“But my life started changing after I attended one of the Monthly Combined Fellowships at the General Fellowship Centre, Aiyetoro, after Okokomaiko, along Badagry Expressway, Lagos. There, the preaching of the servant of God, the General Superintendent, touched me and my life started changing. Then one day, I came to the District Fellowship at Aguda and the pastor said that people usually returned to their sins because they never truly repented and wept because of them.

He said he was going to pray for a hammer to fall on our hearts. A little while after the statement was made and the pastor had prayed, I started crying, weeping bitterly. I continued weeping for a very long time. This experience brought a complete change in my life, to the extent that everybody who knew me started testifying to it”.

After this glorious encounter and transformation, Peace Okezie received more blessings from God, one of which was promotion at her place of work. The promotion was a reward from God for her positive response to the things of God.

“Then our pastor told us that ceiling fans were needed at the fellowship centre”, she continued, “and I pledged to buy one. The devil tried to discourage me but I persisted and bought the fan. A week after buying the fan, the management of the company where I worked said they would promote all the workers. Later, the proposed mass promotion was cancelled. The management said that I was the only staff who would be promoted. I was promoted with a very fat salary.
Praise the Lord.”

SPECIAL REPORT: Eschatology Week In Orlu

WHEN Pastor Denis Mpumechi, the Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement Diocesan Pastor in Orlu, Imo State, started receiving divine revelations on the Rapture of the saints on a regular note, he began to wonder whether God was intending to use those revelations to inform him that his time on earth was up. He was really confused as the revelations continued to occur. Later, God made him to know that He was showing him those revelations, because He wanted him to start teaching Eschatology.

And so, since the early 1980s, Pastor Mpumechi has been teaching Eschatology, which is the study of all the events that will mark the end-time, that is, all that one needs to know about the signs of the end, including the Rapture, reign of the anti-Christ, Second Coming of Christ, Resurrection, Millennial reign, and the rest of the events in the end-time calendar, as revealed in the Bible.

Light Fellowship That Marked The End Of The Programme

So, when last year Pastor Mpumechi announced that he was going to devote one week on Eschatological teachings at the Diocesan Fellowship Centre, at No 21 Igboanusi Street, by the International Market, Orlu, Charismatic Signs was determined to be there. It was intended to be a special crusade in which people would come and hear the truth that would set them free.

The impact was great, and the place was jammed. On most of the days, the meeting ended as late as past ten in the evening, yet people stayed glued to their seats until all was over.  The crowd even spilled into the adjoining street. The situation was such that the Watchmen who were already seated were always requested to give up their seats for the visitors, yet, there were not enough room to take all the people.

Charismatic Signs arrived two days into the programme, and was overwhelmed by the depth of the messages and their impact on the audience. As Pastor Mpumechi unfurled God’s end-time timetable, and its implications for humanity, the congregation remained sober, calm and attentive. It was as if the Rapture would take place the next minute, and no one wanted to be taken unawares. The altar calls he made in the course of the meetings saw large numbers of people surging towards the rostrum  with weeping and deep prayers to embrace the Lord.

One of the most striking messages dwelt on “Why Many People Will Miss The Rapture!” This message produced a spectacular response from the audience, aided by Pastor Mpumechi’s direct, very blunt way of delivering his messages. For instance, in the course of one of the messages, he looked sternly on the congregation and declared: “If you are a Watchman and you still live in sin, you will go to hell!”

The various themes were with amazing exhaustiveness. Charismatic Signs came away with the impression  that this might, after all, be a very effective way of carrying out gospel crusades.

Unlike all the noise about signs and wonders that mark many crusades these days, where diverse kinds of people would come, receive miracles and go away in the same sinful state they had come, this one has a special appeal and impact, a capacity to cause men to fall before the Lord in repentance. What happens is that the piercing truth people have heard would liberate them and cause them to make decisions that would lead them to salvation. Indeed, these are messages that are required for this hour.

For Pastor Mpumechi, it was a most fulfilling week.  His earnest wish and prayers is that men and women should know the fate that awaits this world in no distant time, and do something urgently to embrace Jesus Christ in sincerity and true repentance in order to escape the wrath to come.
